Silver Lining Celebration
In 2002, a group of parents organized Bridgeway's first Silver Lining Soiree. I will let them tell you why .........
"Years of living under an educational dark cloud because our children's potential and requirements were not being positively met by the schooling process was burst open by attendance at Bridgeway Academy to expose a Silver Lining. That Silver Lining is the confidence, relief and quiet growth and awakening of our children's sense of wonder and desire to learn. The years of perseverance on the part of our children, ourselves and all those involved with Bridgeway has opened to the endless bright skies of learning. This shiny new experience brings a new excitement to every aspect of our lives and we should celebrate."
2010 Silver Lining Soiree
The Silver Lining Soiree is Bridgeway Academy's celebration of more than 25 years of success in bringing educational equality to children with learning disabilities throughout Nova Scotia. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and all proceeds support our programs and our students.
This year's event was held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Westin Nova Scotian Hotel. More than 200 people attended and enjoyed an evening of fun, food and fundraising. Thanks to your support, we raised $70,000 in support of Bridgeway's students and programs!
A very special thank you to Ellen Benoit-Colling and Scott Craig, Bridgeway alumni, for sharing your success stories. Our thanks as well to Bill Carr, our Emcee; Wayne Gamble, our Auctioneer; and The Jive Bunnies, our musical entertainment.
Congratulations as well to our live and silent auction winners! We auctioned off over 120 fantastic items from a trip for two to Hawaii, to overnight accomodations at local hotels to gift certificates for meals and spa services.
